Sports Chiropractor in Cottleville, MO
For the injury that only shows up in the third mile, the last set, or the second half — assessment-led care built around getting you back to the thing, not just out of pain.
Athletes describe pain differently than most patients. It is rarely constant — it arrives at a specific point in a specific movement, and it goes away when you stop. That pattern is diagnostic, and it is the reason a sports-focused exam looks at how you load a joint rather than only where it hurts.
What a sports chiropractor does differently
The difference is where we look. A runner with knee pain gets the hip and the ankle tested, because the knee is usually paying for what those two are not doing — the reasoning we lay out in what actually causes knee pain. A golfer with low back pain gets hip rotation measured on both sides before anyone touches the back.
- Movement testing under load. Single-leg control, ankle range, hip rotation, mid-back extension — the four restrictions behind most of what we see, covered in mobility gaps and pre-event prep.
- Treatment aimed at the restriction. Precision adjustments where a segment has stopped moving, Pin & Stretch and Cupping & Scraping for the tissue holding it.
- Corrective exercise that keeps it. Two or three movements, not twelve — the part that decides whether the change survives your next training block.
- A return-to-play plan. Which movements to keep, which to shelve, and what has to be true before you go back to full load.
The joint that hurts is rarely the joint with the problem. It is usually the one compensating for something upstream that nobody tested.
Who we treat
Most of the athletes here are adults training around a job — lifters, runners, golfers and the pickleball players filling the courts at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters and the Cottleville Community Center three minutes from our door. We also see high-school players in season across St. Charles County, and the sport-specific patterns that come with each: shoulders in swimmers and throwers, hips and low backs in rotational sports, knees and ankles in anything with a change of direction.
You do not need to compete at anything. If you train, play, or simply want to keep moving without something flaring up, the assessment is the same.
Do you have to stop training?
Usually not entirely, and this is where sports-focused care differs most from generic advice. Complete rest reliably calms a symptom and reliably costs you fitness — and because nothing about the mechanics changed, the problem tends to return when training resumes.
The more useful version is modifying the specific thing that aggravates it and continuing everything else. Our notes on lifting through low back pain cover how that works in practice for the gym, and post-run recovery for runners.
The cheapest injury prevention available is finding a restriction six weeks before a season rather than the week after something tore. Bring your training schedule and any recent jump in volume — sudden increases in load explain more complaints than anything anatomical.
What a visit costs
The initial assessment is $149and runs about 40 minutes — enough time to test properly rather than guess. Follow-up visits are $60 and include a precision adjustment plus the soft-tissue work and corrective exercise your plan calls for that day, bundled in at no extra charge. Acupuncture is $60 per session, and Shockwave Therapy is a $375 three-session package where a stubborn tendon needs it.
We do not bill insurance, which is what makes the visit long enough to do the work rather than shaped by what a code reimburses — the tradeoff we explain in what care costs without insurance. See the full services and pricing menu.
